Research Interests

Our primary focus is spin manupulation in semiconductor. One important concept we investigate is spin relaxation. The source of decay of spin imbalance is usually characterized by well approximated Elliot-Yafet, D’yakanov-Perel’ and Bir-Aronov-Pikus mechanisms. These mechanisms are conceptual descriptions of what happens to spin inside the material. We are currently developing a numerical framework that would account for each of the scattering mechanism independently and interconnectedly within the framework of Boltzman Equation. Our primary focus is Wurtzite structures in bulk and lower dimensions.

Another important concept is interaction of spin current with magnetic patterns, including domain walls and vortices. The common practice in this field is to treat spin current and the magnetic media independently. We focus on the self consistent modifications one system exert on the other.
