Research Interests

My present work concerns firstly the spintronic materials, namely the modeling of the diluted magnetic semi-conductors (Bulk, thin-films and nanowires structures) using theoretical methods. I am employing the Projector augmented wave (PAW) method as implemented in the VASP package and the all electron FP-(L)APW+lo method with Wien2k code. I investigate the structural, electronic and magnetic properties with a focus on the structure, formation energy and electronic band structure. The role of vacancies in presence of non-magnetic impurities is also studied.
 
My second project, is to use the Smeagol code to study the electronic transport properties of the magnetic nano-structures such as the magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs).  One of the important goal of my calculations will be to extract the spin-torque in systems based on oxides, such as Fe/MgO.
